After ten months of on-site construction management, we successfully completed our project in Lünen for Remondis Production GmbH. In the former Lippe Plant in Lünen, a new alpha hydrate plant for the processing of natural gypsum was installed and integrated into an existing production plant under our supervision.

The challenge was, among other things, to install the new plant in an existing old plant, as the entire building complex from the 1930s had settled to one side by approx. 25cm due to the former open-cast mining underneath the factory premises. A mammoth task for the engineering team.

Huge stainless steel tanks were brought into the building through a narrow roof opening, positioned and then piped. Normal-pressure and low-pressure steam pipes were led into the plant from the power station in the immediate vicinity.

For the steam pipes alone, approx. 1450 welds were made on the pipelines. About 500m of product piping were added and finally about 2000 valves, fittings, measuring devices, probes, etc. were installed. In addition, a raw gypsum feed, a dryer and a decanter were also installed.

The client's change requests in the areas of steel construction and plant engineering also had to be taken into account. Delivery delays due to the pandemic, staff shortages due to covid illnesses as well as delivery bottlenecks of individual suppliers due to the beginning crisis on the global market had to be coordinated. Despite all adversities, we managed to start the commissioning and wish Remondis Production every success with their new plant.
